A Case Study Of Community Participation In People With Intellectual Disabilities

Community is an important living place of intellectual disabilities.Connecting the intellectual disabilities to community service carriers has become an important direction of future intellectual disabilities services.This way can effectively meet the needs of the community participation of intellectual disabilities,and community governance and community construction.Based on a thorough research with intellectualdisabilitiesin H community in the city of Zhengzhou,this article attempts from the perspective of ecological system theory,carry out a study of the status quo of community participation of the intellectual disabilitiesand analysesthe factors of restricting the community participation to discuss the necessity and feasibility of case work.This paper selects a special intellectual disability to carry out the case study,exploring intervention and support in the process of community participation for intellectual disabilities.Meanwhile,on the basis of the practice,this article tries to build social support networks for intellectual disabilities,hoping to bring in solid help to disabilities and promote them to gradually integrate into the community and get growth and development.This paper is divided into four parts: the first part describes the background and premise,including literature review,research methods and ideas,concept definition.The second part,mainly introduces the background of the community,and estimates the difficulties of intervention.The third part introduces the practical process of the author's involvement in the community of people with intellectual disabilities.The fourth part will summarize the application of theory and method in the process of case work intervention,reflect the shortcomings and ethical dilemmas,and put forward some suggestions on the basis of practice.The study found that mild intellectual disabilities are especially eager to get involved in the community life,but their community participation is not extensive,frequent,and effective,alsothe way of their participation is always passive and restricted by many factors.Based on case work,improving ability of intellectual disabilities and creating a new community environment can provide individualized servicefor people with intellectual disabilities,eliminate the restriction factors of community participation and promote intellectual disabilities integrate into the community gradually.The case work has achieved remarkable results in practice,but in order to better serve the people with intellectual disabilities,the author summarizes the application experience of service theory,service skills and humanistic therapy in practice,also reflects the lack of casework service and the ethical dilemma,and puts forward some suggestions to promote community participationof people with intellectual disabilities.
