| Chemistry is a discipline of natural science based on experiments. In the period of junior middle school chemistry teaching, experiment teaching plays a vital role. When categorized by the performer or subject of experiments, chemistry experiments can be divided into two categories: demonstration experiments and student experiments. As to demonstration experiments, most teachers can organize it elaborately. But in the rural areas, restricted by various factors, student experiments haven’t been carried out extensively. In order to intrigue students’ interest in chemistry and to consolidate their knowledge, experiments done at home can remedy,to certain extent, the aforementioned problem. As a unique form of chemical experiment, experiments done at home make an important part of chemistry experiment teaching.Through years of chemistry teaching,I found that to effectively implement chemistry teaching,it is necessary for us to abandon traditional chemistry teaching mindset, the sole emphasis on knowledge and skills. We should cultivate students’ scientific attitude and scientific capacity, which should be put in the first place. So,successful implementation of done-at-home chemistry experiments in middle schools located in rural areas plays an indispensable role in increasing students’ interest in learning chemistry. This research is rooted in the discipline characteristics of rural junior middle school chemistry. And via systematic analysis and study of chemistry teaching process,we here examine the viability or effectiveness of experiments done at home. This essay is divided into four parts or segments, with the first one mainly focuses on the theoretical foundation of this topic and its current development in and outside the border. The second part is about the function of small chemistry experiments doing at home. While the third part discusses how to choose the right or suitable experiments in the given conditions of ruralarea middle schools. The last segment elaborates on the research about the teaching model of the effective performance of done-at-home chemistry experiments in rural area middle schools. |
