As a unique literary genre,the novel is favored by the students in the middle school Chinese class.The novel in the new period as a type of the novel,is chosen by multiple versions of the high school Chinese course teaching materials because of its various styles.Training students' ability to appreciate the novels in the new period is the core of the thesis.To let students really love the novels in the new period,the teacher should let students realize the ways of appreciating the novels in new period,and then form a good habit of reading the novels in the new period.In this paper the author regards the teaching of the Chinese novel course of high school in the new period as the main foothold and considers the teaching situation of the novels in the new period in the 1980 s of elective modules of Chinese textbooks published by People's Education Press(PEP)as the object of the study.The author finds the current teaching situations and existing problems of the novels in the new period,explores the reasons,and tries to put forward the corresponding solutions.This thesis is mainly divided into five parts.The first part is the introduction.This chapter mainly illustrates research background,research value,research methods and research status,etc.Based on the research status and research results achieved of the novels in the new period,the author aims to find out the characteristics of the novels in the new period and analyzes the value of the novel teaching and research in the new period from the research on the teaching of high school novel.The second part is the compiling and teaching situation of the novels in the new period.First,in this chapter,the author makes a definition of the novels in the new period mentioned in this thesis,then sorts out the novels in the new period in the textbook of Chinese course in the senior high school in the various versions of the selected case.In the end,the author carries out an investigation to the teaching situation of the novels in the new period in the selected PEP version textbook,such as the teaching design of “oh! Xiangxue”.In the third part,the author explores the existing problems in the novel in the new period teaching.This chapter finds the problems of the current the novels in the new period teaching,and thinks about the causes of the problems mainly through the statistical analysis of the survey on teaching,results and related teaching design of the novels in the new period in a certain high school in Huaibei city from the aspects of teaching objectives,teaching contents,teaching process respectively.In the fourth part,it is the study of effective strategies of the novels in the new period teaching.According to the main problems summarized in the second chapter,reading expectation,the characteristics of texts,novel narrative and other related theories,the author raises some solutions of the novels in the new period teaching,and finally trains students to appreciate the novels in the new period.In the fifth part,the author comes to a conclusion,mainly analyzes the value and the deficiency of the thesis,and puts forward a better prospect to the novel teaching.
