The cultivation of students' reading ability is one of the aims of the curriculum.The current curriculum standard puts more emphasis on the teaching of reading.Whether it is to the understanding of the article in teaching or the requiring of graduation examination,it puts forward higher request to the students.Actually,the ability of reading can affect the integrated ability of English such as understanding and writing.Moreover,reading makes up a great proportion in High School Entrance Examination.Therefore,the promotion of the students' comprehensive reading literacy becomes necessary.English reading is a process of thinking.We should raise students' awareness of reading comprehension so that they can monitor their reading process and effectively achieve the purpose of reading by themselves.Based on the years of teaching practice,we've found that reading habits have significant impact on reading comprehension.Bad reading habits will lead to the declining in reading interests and reading standards.Thus,it is very important to cultivate students' good reading habits to enhance their interests in English reading.The effectiveness of reading can be enhanced by the increasing of the reading speed.And the speed plays an important role in reading.In view of these,the author of the thesis has done a survey of the relationship between reading habits and reading speed.Questionnaire method has been adopted in the research to verify the effect that reading habits have much impact on reading speed.The author of this thesis has analyzed the reasons why students' reading speed is slow from different aspects in Zhangcun Middle School.We have conducted a questionnaire on the students' English learning in the school.Feasible teaching measures are put forward to remedy problems in reading according to the results.And another questionnaire has been conducted among the students who have been used the training system.It shows that the cultivation of reading habits can greatly improve the English reading speed.Students' enthusiasm and initiative are also aroused at the same time.According to all these,we put forward some suggestions on English teaching.We shouldn't only focus on the education of knowledge and learning methods,we also need to train student's reading habits in teaching reading,which is essential to play the readers' dynamic role during reading.
