What the new curriculum standard advocates is that students should learn geography which is practical and useful through their life with their understandings about life.Therefore teaching should be closely related to real life so that students can learn by their understanding of life.Meanwhile,the comprehensive reform of Gaokao calls for arousing students' interests in class,only in this way can we teachers get a post reform.Geography is a subject closely connected with production and real life.However,the current situation of geography teaching is not satisfactory.So that in order to help teachers improve the quality of teachig,meet the demand of the New Curriculum,and be better prepared for Gaokao with a comprehesive understanding about the teaching based on real life theory,I,therefore choose this topic as my subject.With referring to quantities of documents literature,I did a research and analyzed the situation of geography teaching basedon life in High School S.After the analysis,problems are found such as monotonic teaching context,style,resource and assessment system,lack of the speciality of geography,and students' low attendence.And the reasons behind those phenomenons,from my perspective,can be attributed to unreasonable system of teacher assessment,imitation of environment and hardware,deeply-rooted examination oriented thoughts,as well as lack of group research and insistment.Finally,the strategies for promotion are put forward.For example,emphasizing the “people oriented” in teachers' assessmet,increaing the fanancial input in equipments,updating the traditional stereotype,expanding teaching resources,strengthening the cooperation of the teaching and researching group,emphrasizing the aim of multiple study,give more homework related to life and keep futher researching on Gaokao.And in these ways,teaching in geography based on real life become more practical and feasible.
