With the increase of the degree of China's opening up to the outside world,international exchanges are becoming more and more frequent,and English,as one of the common languages over the world,is becoming more and more important.Language,as a carrier,bears the important responsibility of cross-cultural communication,however,without the understanding of the culture behind it,there is no real understanding of the language,nor successful communication.In order to adapt to the needs of outstanding foreign language talents and cross-cultural communication talents owing to the increasingly frequent international exchanges,we need to pay special attention to cultivating students' awareness of cross-cultural communication in English teaching in middle school education.So as to make students have the quality of tolerance towards the diversity of culture in middle school English study.However,due to the influence of traditional English teaching method and the shackles of the current examination-oriented education system,cross-cultural teaching is often neglected.Besides,owing to the lack of effective cultural teaching experiences as well as strategies and methods,cross-cultural teaching has not yet reached its height.This paper first introduces the background and significance of cross-cultural teaching in middle school English class.Then,it summarized the researches on cross-cultural teaching in language teaching at home and abroad,and then the author makes research design and analyzes its results under the guidance of related concepts and theoretical basis.According to the research situation,this paper puts forward the strategies and the concrete methods of cross-cultural teaching in senior high school,and explains how these strategies are applied through the class with a reading class-teaching plan for detailed demonstration.The research methods adopted in this paper include questionnaire survey,interview,theoretical analysis,literature research,and etc..This paper mainly studies the following questions:the status of English cross-cultural awareness of middle school students(including the mastery of cultural knowledge,the understanding,interest,attitude and requirements of cross-cultural teaching),the status of the implementation of cross-cultural teaching by English teachers(including the degree of laying stress on cultural teaching,the obstacles encountered,attitudes and means of cultural teaching and the strategies and methods of cross-cultural teaching in high school English teaching and the demonstration of a teaching plan.The biggest discovery of this study lies in the cross-cultural teaching strategies which are applied to the English class that have caused students' active feedback,reversed students' attitude in learning English culture and improved students' interest and motivation in learning culture of English speaking countries form our aspects of strengthening teachers'own cultural accomplishment,fully cramping out the cultural content in the teaching materials,making full use of the surrounding environment and the internet resources,and improving cultural evaluation and testing.Through the combination of cultural teaching and all aspects of English learning,students can act and absorb cultural knowledge under subtle influence.Through the combination of cultural teaching and all aspects of English learning,students can act and absorb cultural knowledge under subtle influence.This combination mainly aims at as much as cultural indoctrination and practice as possible in a limited time so as to make students benefit from it help their English study,but the application of the teaching strategies can not be immutable,which means that during the combination,teachers should adopt other innovative teaching methods to supplement and perfect it according to the actual situation.
