In the modern time,it is universally acknowledged that reading plays an important role in teaching English.Although teachers put much emphasis on reading teaching,unfortunately,reading teaching has a great deal of disadvantages,for instance,the students' passive learning attitudes,low learning efficiency,lack of learning autonomy and so on,are produced because the teacher-oriented traditional teaching model has been used for a long time under the background of the exam-oriented education system.With the development of the new curriculum reform,the teachers are required to change current teaching model in English class,focusing on transforming the students' learning style to make them become active and independent learners so as to improve class efficiency and cultivate students' ability of autonomous learning for English reading.The author of this thesis adopts guided learning plan teaching model in English reading class based on the learning theory of Constructivism,Zone of Proximal Development and Humanistic theory and tries to answer the following research questions:1.Can the guided learning plan teaching model promote students' learning autonomy in English reading?2.Can the guided learning plan teaching model improve the students' English reading proficiency?In order to answer these questions,the author carries out an experiment for four months in the two parallel classes of Class 9 and Class10 in Grade 8 in Decai Junior High School in Fushun,Class 9 as Control Class(CC),Class 10 as Experiment Class(EC).The two classes are taught by the same teacher with the same textbook and the same teaching time to ensure the reliability and validity of the research.The only difference is that EC is taught with the guided learning plan teaching model while CC is taught with the traditional teaching model.In the research,the author employs questionnaire,tests,and interview as the research instruments.Then data are analyzed by the software SPSS19.0.The results of the research shows that guided learning plan teaching model can promote their learning autonomy and improve students' reading proficiency in English reading.
