In this information era,the rapid development of science and technology and knowledge explosion have set higher requirements for talents cultivation and their qualities.Hence the traditional way of teaching cannot meet the demand of high efficiency and life quality in terms of its lecture time and selection of teaching content. To enhance its competitiveness, any individual, group and even the society must learn to acquire new information and new knowledge in a short time.At the same time, students, parents and teachers are more or less affected by exam-oriented education, and attach some importance to cramming method of teaching. Therefore,it is urgent that we combine the characteristics of chemistry in junior middle school and teaching practice, and carry out some research on teaching strategies and methods,in order to cultivate students' learning ability. From theory to practice, the paper mainly explores the methods to improve students' autonomous learning ability in junior middle school chemistry teaching. This paper first conducted a survey of 340 grade-three teachers and students of three middle schools in Gushi County,Henan Province, finding out how much junior middleschool chemistry teachers and students understand autonomous learning.Through analysis, most of the surveyed teachers have known of autonomous-learning teaching concept and consider students' autonomous learning ability very important for improving teaching efficiency, correcting learning attitude of students, and improving their ability and quality. However, they do not have a comprehensive understanding of autonomous learning theory, which would lead to a mixed understanding of teaching methods and a lack of practice. As for students, they still rely greatly on teachers in obtaining knowledge, showing a lack of learning motives, innovation and enjoyment. As for the theoretical framework, the paper elaborates autonomous learning and its features and requirements. To achieve autonomous learning, teachers should guide, promote and motivate and students should learn selectively, with initiative and innovation;and in this teaching model,a good relationship should be established between students and teachers, and the dominant role of students should be emphasized in class. The paper then analyzes the characteristics of junior middle school chemistry from the aspects of knowledge composition, teaching object, curriculum. With the understanding of autonomous learning theory combined with the author's teaching practice, the paper puts forward some suggestions for cultivating autonomous learning ability in junior middle school chemistry class. To begin with, teachers should update their teaching concept and make clear the roles students and teachers should play,a harmonious relationship between teachers and students should be established, and teaching evaluation should be done scientifically. And the important point lies in the innovative teaching approach which is related to real life, varies from student to student, and can achieve the width and depth of teaching. And finally, autonomous learning should be realized by making teaching design more colorful, creating problem situations, diversifying the use of teaching equipments, stimulating students' interest to learn, curiosity to explore the world, and enthusiasm to actively participate in various types of teaching activities, and allowing students to explore and exchange. Finally the paper studies three cases of course teaching and does a distinctive experiment among different classes to verify the impact of the proposed teaching control strategies on improving students'autonomous learning ability.Research shows that the use of regulatory strategies for classroom teaching design can greatly stimulate students' interest in learning, promote students'independent thinking, cooperation spirit, innovation in use of knowledge, hence achieving the goal of improving students' autonomous learning ability.
