Occupational commitment is the degree of reluctance to change the occupation resulting from the individual's recognition and input to the profession,and the internalization of social norms.It is very important to explore the impacts of the work values of rural primary school teachers on occupational commitment,which can improve the level of occupational commitment of rural primary school teachers,stabilize rural primary school teachers and promote their professional development.In this study,the teacher's work value scale was revised,and the revised values of work values and occupational commitment of 345 rural primary school teachers were investigated by using the revised Rural Primary School Teachers' Work Values Scale and the Primary and Secondary Teachers' Professional Commitment Questionnaire.Besides,an in-depth interview of 8 primary rural primary school teachers were made to explore the impacts of rural primary school teachers' values on occupational commitment.The results of the relevant data and interviews were analyzed and the following results were obtained:(1)The revised number of primary school teachers' work value questionnaire is0.795,and the coefficient of a dimension is between 0.734 and 0.771.The reliability is good and can be used as the tools of measuring the work values of rural primary school teachers.(2)The average value of the work values of rural primary school teachers is4.475,among which the organization management and altruism are higher scores,the safety and stability scores are the lowest;there is significant difference in gender,school location,teaching subject,title,highest education and teaching age Differences(P<0.01).The total score of occupational commitment is 3.473,and the normative commitment score is the highest,and the emotional commitment score is the lowest.There is significant difference in gender,school location,title,highest education and teaching age(P<0.01).(3)There is a significant positive correlation between rural school teachers' work values and occupational commitment(r = 0.374 **).The safety and stability of workvalues,material remuneration and altruistic contributions have a significant predictive effect on emotional commitment;occupational development,material remuneration and interpersonal relationship have a significant predictive effect on continued commitment;prestige and altruism have a significant predictive effect on normative commitments.The results of the case interviews further support the impact of work values on occupational commitments.In general,rural primary school teachers have a positive attitude towards the evaluation of work values.Their occupational commitments are at a moderate level,and work values have a significant predictive effect on occupational commitments.To improve the level of professional commitment of rural primary school teachers,on the one hand,take targeted measures on the specific issues of the most attention from work values;on the other hand,focus on the guiding role of active work values considering the three aspects of community,schools and teachers themselves.
