As an important communicative language,English is widely used in current international interaction.Yet it becomes more and more important in society,thus spoken English teaching has been paid more attention to than before.The improvement of learners' practical communicative skills will contribute to their spoken English ability.Language learners can use the language to deal with challenges as long as they fully acquire language using skills.However,spoken English teaching in rural middle schools is still relatively laggard and does not cause due attention.Therefore English teachers in rural middle schools should adopt more effective ways to make students acquire language competence and skills during teaching process,yet enhance their cross-cultural communicative competence.As the penetration of teaching methods'research,people focus more on experiments about class teaching activities than before.As a new teaching method which emphasizes on the practical application function of language,the Communicative Approach(CA)gradually promotes to front-line English teaching and has achieved positive results.Thus it has become a reliable support of developing students' overall language ability especially spoken English ability.The research selects rural middle school students who have certain language basis as the respondents to investigate the function of Communicative Approach in spoken English teaching.Yet it should be aware that rural middle schools are laggard in teaching environment and methods,so it needs more improvement.Through questionnaires and tests,the research aims to explore different effects of Communicative Approach in spoken English teaching and to help English teachers seek for more effective ways to enhance students' spoken English ability.The research initiated in the second semester of 2016 school year at Beijipo Middle School in Tai'an City,Shandong Province,.A total of 93 participants from two paralleled classes were chosen to compare the spoken English improvement through communicative language teaching.To testify the hypothesis,the author uses one systematical test paper as spoken English test paper,assisted by questionnaire and classroom observation.The research includes students' attitude and satisfactory degree towards the Communicative Approach,students' preference towards communicative activities,problems existing in spoken English learning and students' expectation degree towards the Communicative Approach etc.Lastly,the collected data were processed and analyzed with the help of SPSS 22.00.The research reveals that spoken English learning under Communicative Approach produces a big improvement in students' spoken English ability.Meanwhile,the Communicative Approach cultivates students' deep interest and motivation towards spoken English learning.Thus,the author puts forward six rules on how to adopt Communicative Approach into rural teaching condition to make the application of Communicative Approach more suitable for different learners and various learning situations.The Communicative Approach brings fresh vitality to monotonous English teaching status and ameliorates its dissatisfactory situation.However,some problems still remain to be solved.At last,therefore,the author points out the limitations of the present research and makes some suggestions for further study.
