With the development of society,people rely more and more on technology in real life and technological literacy has become essential for modern people.Therefore,the importance attached to technological education and the improvement of people's technological literacy are crucial for the scientific and technological development and integrated strength of the state.As a newly required and basic education course included in the new curriculum reform program for general senior middle schools,General Technology is intended for improving students' technological literacy and mainly characterized by design and operation learning.However,this course is ignored due to imperfect education system,and it is limited by inadequate teaching resources,fewer class hours,poor experimental conditions,etc.,which creates many problems in practice and thus leads to less improvement in students' technological literacy.Since the limitation of traditional teaching mode is more and more obvious,how to effectively foster technological literacy of and meet teaching demand for general technology by project-based method is an issue significant in practice guidance.In this study,documentary method,action research method,questionnaire method,etc.were adopted,and a deep analysis and exploration was made for the fostering of senior middle school students' technological literacy,the application of project-based method to general technology teaching and other problems.This study is represented by four sections.The first section describes the background and value of the study,the basis of domestic and foreign researches on the fostering of technological literacy,the contents of the study and research methods.The second section elaborates the connotation of technological literacy and the concept and theoretical basis of project-based method,including the elements of technological literacy,the content analysis and unique connotation of technological literacy as shown in General Technology and the research on the application project-based method to the fostering of senior middle school students' technological literacy,analyzes the advantages and use of project-based method in general technology teaching and identifies the positive role of the general technology class adopting project-based method in achieving the fostering goal of senior middle school students' technological literacy.The third section explains the procedures of project-based method,introduces the teaching practice of a general technology class adopting project-based method through the teaching case of Design and Making of A Small Portable Stool,and analyzes and evaluates the result of fostering the students' technological literacy by the project activity.The fourth section summarizes this study,points out the deficiency in the study and makes suggestions.
