As the new curriculum reform has been widely carried out,the student involvement in class has been a hot topic in the educational field,and has become another request for classroom teaching in the new curriculum reform.But in the recent school education,because of the differences of recognition of educators and the educated,the motivation of students in classroom teaching is not high enough.And this point has even embodied some differences in English teaching of arts students and science students.On this occasion,Participatory Teaching,as a new teaching method in the process of modern education,has become an educational trend in the process of English teaching,and lead a new fashion in the curriculum reform.And also because of it,we should pay more attention to the students'involvement in English class in the curriculum reform of the high schools in our country,which can show the motivation of students in English class,improve their interest of learning English,and further develop main role of students in English class.This thesis take two liberal arts classes and two science classes in Linjiang High School in Kaixian,Chongqing as an example.Through questionnaire,interview,class observation and literature research,it investigates the current situation of the involvement of arts students and science students in high school English class,and the differences of them.Based on the theory,this thesis uses Motivation,Valence and Expectancy as three parts of evaluation,and uses learning motivation,learning attitude and learning confidence,which is concluded from them to judge the different behavior of liberal arts students and science students in English class,and effects of them.By comparing the differences of the learning confidence and attitude,the learning motivation and attitude,and the learning confidence and motivation of liberal arts students and science students,we can find that:in general,the involvement of high school students is not high,and the arts students is more participative than science students.And the positive emotion in learning confidence,the deep learning recognition in learning attitude and the students'academic achievement in learning motivation has a positive effect on the students'involvement in class.At the same time,the birthplace,the grade,the gender,the scores of students and teachers have an influence on the involvement of arts students and science students in English class.According to the conclusion,this thesis gives some advice for arts students and science students.For example,teachers should change their education recognition and improve the interest of students and develop their learning styles,which can make the students have a better learning attitude and confidence,and improve their motivation in learning English.So by using Participatory Teaching,the teachers can let the students acquire more knowledge,improve their IQ,have more fun in learning and give their real involvement in the activities in English class.
