Teaching of ancient Chinese poetry has become a really important part of Chinese's teaching at middle schools,while there are many difficulties about teaching methods that have to be solved. Although there were countless poetry's anthologies of Tang dynasty that came out since Tang, The Special Collection of Tang Poetry by Shen Deqian stood out and obtained special attentions from researchers. In this article, I am going to describe the importance of The Special Collection of Tang Poetry through four parts, and try to figure out the methods that may solve the difficulties in Chinese poetry's teaching at middle schools.In the introductory, I list the writing process and historical influence of The Special Collection of Tang Poetry, outline the current progress and status of the book, summarize the difficulties in ancient Chinese poetry's teaching and explain the purpose and objective of this article.In the first part of the article, I compare The Special Collection of Tang Poetry and Three Hundred Tang poems, which are popular classic poetry anthologies of China, and figure out that The Special Collection of Tang Poetry contains the advantages of all the classic poetry anthologies, and includes distinctive and advanced concepts about poetry,which its compilation had also been an idol for other poetry anthologies. Therefore, I believe that The Special Collection of Tang Poetry is more likely to be a new impetus of ancient poetry's teaching than Three Hundred Tang poems.The second part of the article demonstrates Shen Deqian's poetic idea the "Artistic Theory" that contained by The Special Collection. The "Artistic Theory" includes the Poetic Ethics, which is the core value, the Status and System Ethics, which has inherit and develop the poetic concept of seven poetic celebrities in Ming Dynasty, and finally absorb the Theory of Verve of Wang Shizhen. No doubts that the "Artistic Theory" has its limitations,it expresses fair,calm and tolerance,which is worth to do research and be reference for ancient poetry's teaching.In the third section, after the analysis of all the aspect of values of The Special Collection, I come up with the detail of the method that could solve the difficulties in ancient Chinese poetry's teaching at middle schools. Initially,based on Shen Deqian's"Artistic Theory", his emphasis on the temperament of poetry should be applied to the current teaching of ancient poetry. Secondly,Shen Deqian's idea about "known one's background then make an appraisal","appreciation of the style of poetry",and"distinction of genres of poetry",these ideas can be the objectives of ancient poetry's teaching and main content. The methods of reading and appreciating poetry that introduced in The Special Collection should be learned, moreover, the education of ancient poetry has to bring correlative knowledge to enrich the teaching methods.The fourth section of the passage discusses Shen Deqian's criticism of Shu Dao Nan,Pi Pa Xing and Ma Wei, then puts forward the specific strategic plan of on class teaching,which emphasize the value of The Special Collection and clarify the application of it in middle schools' ancient poetry's teaching.Ultimately, I conclude the above researching process and the key opinions, explain that one of the best methods to improve ancient poetry's teaching at middle schools is to consult excellent classic poetry anthologies, such as The Special Collection of Tang Poetry.
