Ancient Chinese poetry plays an important part in Chinese classical culture. As a mainstay in the history of literature, the creation of poetry has been always blossoming, weighing much in the Chinese textbooks. It also becomes a vital access to passing down the classical culture. To understand the cultural meanings of ancient poetry, we are supposed to analyze the works from the views of ancient people rather than those of modern ones destroying the original cultural value of it. There are uncountable penetrating judgment and opinions in those ancient works. Loose or sharp, they are all the treasures deposited by those learned scholars, assisting us in reading and digesting the poems. After the nine-year compulsory education, most of the students develop unique taste and judgment of analyzing the poems with the acquired reading ability. Introducing ancient poetry theory in senior high ancient poetry teaching benefits the return of poetry appreciation to classical culture, making the essence of classical culture passed down efficiently through class teaching.In this thesis, despite the abstract there are totally four parts. The first part is the summary of the problems existing in senior high ancient poetry teaching and the general solutions, take some learning problems for example and give the ways that a few famous teachers had used before. Next part is supposed to summarize the significance of ancient poetry teaching in terms of class teaching, self-studying and culture inheritance. The third part mainly focuses on some concrete poems, poems of the Song Dynasty for instance. Use the opinions in ancient poetry theory to analyze and remark the works in the textbook. The last part is about the practical cases. I will apply the teaching methods mentioned to real teaching and analyze the teaching results, finding out its practical worth.
