As a new teaching method, situational teaching method is a kind of cognitive method which allows students to discover the problem and then solve it by themselves in certain situations by means of imitating or reproducing the environment or procedure in which the events occur, resulting in better understanding of the course and improving students' ability in a short time. Compared with traditional teaching methods, situational teaching method can improve the students' learning interest which is more conducive to both teaching and learning. How to establish and apply the situations efficiently to senior high school's ideological and political course still remains a big problem. The author puts the students in a real situation and lets them play the role directly to deepen their understanding of the knowledge, inspire their learning potentials and improve their learning enthusiasm. By this way,the senior high school's ideological and political course can become more attractive. At the same time, the situational method emphasizes much on the part of students and their learning process. In other words, the teaching method embodies the student-centered teaching concept.This paper studies the application of situational teaching method to the political class in senior high school. This paper is divided into five parts: the first part is introduction. This part describes the research significance, research ideas and research methods and then summarizes the related literature and related theories on situational teaching; the second part mainly introduces the concept, characteristics and significance of situational teaching which can enrich the students' political life experience, improve the students' political accomplishments, and promote the construction of socialist political civilization. What is more, it can stimulate students' interest and create a good classroom atmosphere. The third part further put forward the organization and implementation of the situational teaching method in high school's political class including the following parts: preparation of situational teaching before class, lead-in,perception of situation, experience of the situation and conclusion summary; the fourth part is the evaluation and reflection on the situational teaching method. The evaluation mainly takes the form of chart while the reflection mainly adopted the following three ways: teaching postscript, teaching feedback, communication and discussion; the fourth part puts forward that in order to use the situational teaching method more effectively in the high school's ideological and political course, one must pay attention to the following four aspects : the suitability of the situation, improvement of students' enthusiasm on experiencing the activities, the cognitive and individual differences of students and development of teachers' subjective initiative in situational teaching.
