Since the initiation of reform and opening-up policy in the 1980 s,the society transformed gradually to the industrialization and urbanization,and a large number of rural laborers sprang into cities.Under such circumstances,there are a considerable number of new immigrants children in city in China.Due to a lack of parental and social attention as well as care,those in such groups are prone to suffer psychological problems such as low self-esteem,insecurity,and communication disorders in the process of growth.Therefore,it is essentially significant to strengthen the research on the psychological care of new immigrants children in city.The present study reviews the current situation of the research on domestic and foreign city new migrant children firstly.Secondly it identifies the direction and purpose of the research based on the existing research result,and works out the research procedure and design.Then the Mental Health Scale for Secondary School Students(MHS-SSS),devolved by the domestic famous psychologist,professor Wang Jisheng,is adopted in the study.The 312 participants are sampled from two secondary schools with relatively more new immigrants children in city in Ma'anshan.The data are collected from questionnaire and analyzed by SPSS 17.0.It arrives the following research results though test on the psychological problems of new immigrants children in city:(1)Overall,there are mild psychological problems of city new migrant children in six dimensions including force,anxiety,interpersonal relationship,learning pressure,maladjustment,emotional imbalance.Among them,the city new migrant children are inferior on the two dimensions including the maladjustment and mental imbalance.(2)In comparison with urban children,the city new migrant children boys suffer less in maladjustment dimension than those urban children.Among them,the seventh grade city new migrant children are inferior to others who are urban children in the dimension of force.City new migrant children in the eighth grade have mild psychological problems in seven dimensions including force,paranoia,anxiety,(3)interpersonal relationship,learning pressure,poor adaptation and emotional balance.In the ninth grade,city new migrant children have mild psychological problems in all ten dimensions.(4)Compared among city new migrant children,girls from city new migrant children suffer more psychological problems than boys in comparison.Taking grades into consideration,the higher grade children are,the more psychological problems they have.Among them,the seventh grade students have mild psychological problems mainly in anxiety,interpersonal relationship,maladjustment and emotional balance dimensions;the eighth grade students in anxiety,interpersonal relationship,learning pressure,poor adaptation,emotional imbalance,psychological imbalance dimensions;and the ninth grade students have mild psychological problems in the other nine dimensions except the force dimension.Finally,relative solutions are put forward according to the research results.
