With the development of educational technology, new technologies are gradually used in education. As a new high-tech product,smart toys have become widespread in our lives. The potential educational value of smart toy has begun to attract the attention of educators and always be the manufacturers' advantage in sales markets. Smart toys can fully mobilize a variety of sensory organs, include sight, hearing and touch, and make game has more sense of presence. So use smart toy in game-based teaching process will bring about the further reform of teaching model.However, a limited number study these toys from educational perspective so far. Additionally, the feasibility of smart toys used in the teaching as a teaching resources and teaching tools has not been validated adequately.In order to verify the feasibility of smart toys in teaching and understand smart toys' potential effects on learning attitude of learners, the paper, with literature review, case study, usability testing, experimental research and other methods, conducted the following aspects studies:First, on the basis of the research of the smart toys, the definition and characteristics of smart toys as cognitive tools to facilitate learning are analyzed. Also, smart toy based learning projects are discussed. Second,after studying the existing teaching models and analyzing the theoretical basis of smart toys, the paper put forward a new game-based teaching model which combine the characteristics of smart toys. Third, we design and develop an educational smart toy, which can be used in English proverb study. By changing the learning content of English proverbs, it can be suitable for every age. So it has high scalability. Finally, the teaching experiment is carried out to investigate the learning attitude of the smart toy. Findings reveal that smart toy provides new resources, tools and models for educational innovation, which can stimulate the learning interest and motivation. The student who participant in the experiment believe that they can learn more English proverbs by this smart toy.
