An Interpretation Of Traditional Chinese Wushu Virtues And Discussion About Their Contemporary Value

Regarding "attack and guard’s technique" as the major technique,based on routines in competitive and flight as the main forms of exercise,Chinese Wushu is a kind of traditional sports program,which emphasizes on external and internal cultivation.The so-called "practicing inside’’ not only refers to an art to uplift one’s spirits by means of “going to practice’’,but also to cultivate martial persons’ spirits and represent an aspiration for “Tao”.Wushu virtue contains specification requirements for martial persons that emerge from Wushu activities.And meanwhile,it is an indispensable part of martial theoretical system on account of an aggregation of dealing with the relationship of Wushu persons among technique,profession,others and themselves.However,nowadays,China is at an unprecedented high-speed development period when the important problem it encounters is the sharp collision in culture between traditional and modern,Chinese and Western,and information explosion.In addition,the foreign culture is on the verge of breaking traditional one,but new system has not established,so China is in a dilemma.As a part of traditional culture,Wushu cannot escape.Incompatibility between traditional Wushu virtue system and the times is the key issue that blocks the development of the Wushu.Therefore,this thesis collects relevant documents about Wushu virtue through extensively consulting numerous historical and professional documents and research materials related to Wushu.Moreover,concerned with research questions,it gets the first-hand information in aid of consulting academics and folk boxers.From the perspective of history,the information received is presented,analyzed and extracted by logical analysis.What is more,with the theory of culture structure of four levels,martial virtue is divided into four parts such as material culture level——technique,system culture level — — regulation,behavior culture level — — etiquette,mental culture level ——soul to elucidate culture connotation of martial virtue in order to discover some contents that are excellent,up to date and worthy of been inherited to carry forward,simultaneously,find,remove,amend and replace untimely thoughtscarrying many features of feudalism and material that violated current law in traditional Wushu virtue so as to agree with the current demands of martial transmission and martial virtue education.
