Research On Life Satisfaction And Social Support Network Of Chinese Students In America

The article is based on the theory of social support network,and takes quantitative and qualitative research methods.It is an empirical study on Chinese students in Los Angeles,USA.By quantitative questionnaire analysis I find that the overall level of life satisfaction of Chinese students is relatively high.There is no significant gender difference in life adaptation and social cultural satisfaction,but gender difference is significant in mental perception,boys are better than girls.Study time is related to life satisfaction significantly.The student who has longer study time can get a higher life satisfaction.The student who has strong language ability or high diploma can get a higher life satisfaction.Chinese students have a medium high level in social support,but gender differences are not significant.There is no significant difference in social support in study time.Social support of Chinese students is obviously different in emotional state.Students with love or marriage have higher level of social support than single students.Subjective support,objective support and utilization of support are significantly related to life satisfaction.The social support of Chinese students has an obvious explanatory power on their mental perception,life adaption and social culture.By qualitative analysis of interviews with international students,I find that Chinese students are basically satisfied with their lives.They are mainly active in a single cultural circle.The size of the support network has a positive impact on their life satisfaction.Homogeneity/heterogeneity and strong relationship/weak relationship have multiple effects on their life satisfaction.Virtual community support network plays a dual role in their lives.It has a positive effect and also has isolation function.So students should establish a strong heart,cultivate an independent personality,expand social network relations actively,and take rational use of virtual community support.Schools should improve the student management model,and create more communication and contact opportunities for students and local students.The government should actively carry out advisory services for international students,establish a long-term exchange mechanism.
