Individual differences greatly influence students' learning behavior and effect.How to teach students at different levels is necessary for English educators to study.Group activities are one of the most common ways of classroom activities.This thesis analyzes how teachers design different group activities for students of different levels,and the research object is an English teacher's classroom teaching in Junjing Middle School,where the author worked as an intern.This thesis answers two research questions: 1)Can group activities in differentiating teaching improve students' learning performance? 2)What could teachers do to make group activities more effective in differentiating teaching?The study takes a whole semester,from September 2016 to January 2017.One of Teacher A's classes takes the teaching form of group activities.The author made a lot of class observations and had a pre-test and a post-test on students' English levels.The author also analyzed the group work of every teaching stage seriously.By analyzing the collected statistic and student's t-test,it is found out that group activities did improve students' classroom performance.The author also made some suggestions on how to plan group work activities in differentiating teaching.
