The fourth grade is not only the critical period of the development of practical ability, but also an important stage widen the gap of students' writing ability. The attention on the fourth grade students' ability to develop the writing ability can effectively improve the teaching and promote the sustainable development of students' writing.Based on the characteristics of the psychological development of the fourth grade students, this study builds the standard of writing's ability that evaluate students' writing skills based on the Chinese curriculum standard, so as to evaluate the the fourth grade students'writing skills more scientifically and intuitively. And based on the standard, the article do a quantitative and qualitative analysis of fourth grade students' writing.Based on the established standards, this paper the author analyzes the text of the 100 textbooks written by 100 students in the fourth grade of primary school to understand the fourth grade students writing skills from the ability of analysing title and identify the theme, choosing and composing material, expressing and modifing. The result shows that most of the students' essays can achieve the basic requirements of the essay and the truth of the essay, but most of the students' essay lacks new ideas and deep meaning in terms of analysing title and identify the theme. In terms of material selection and composition,their content of the composition is more real, but the material is not interesting enough,while a small number of composition' structure is not clear enough, the content is difficult to elaborate. In terms of expressing, there are some mistakes in most students'composition. Besides, there are many single sentences and lack of rhetorical skills in their composition, and the freshness of the statement and the sense of image need to be enhanced. Considering the ability to modify, there are a few who can fully identify and correctly modify the words with obvious mistakes, which means most of the students only can change the wrong words, lacking correct correction of the wrong words.Through the analysis of the writing based on the standard, the status of the fourth grade students' writing skills is displayed in front of the reader, which is more intuitive and reliable. Based on the current situation of this study, the paper analyzes the reasons of the present situation fromaspects: the improper teaching and the lack of students' literacy.In order to improve the writing teaching, based on the analysis of reasons why the fourth gradestudents' writing skills need to be improved. And the four aspects of literacy the paper put forward four practical measures to improve students' writting: adjusting proposition and requirements of practice flexiblely, stimulating motivation and confidence in learning, improving the guidance and evaluation effectivelly, and cultivating habits actively.
