The image system is one of the three systems in the textbook,which plays a very important part of the textbook.Geography image act as the second language for geography textbook,which receives increasing attention in geography classes day by day.With the implementation of education reform,the change of learning methods and strategies influences all aspects of geography teaching. In the geography class,teachers should pay attention to changing the teaching methods of geography textbook image system,using it more effective and developing the value of it maximize.The main contents of this paper are as follows:Firstly,the theoretical analysis of image system in geography textbook.Through literature research, the author propose a method to classify the image system ,count the number of different types of images in the teaching materials,analysis its presentation and clarify its advantages and disadvantages.Secondly,through the ways of questionnaire survey, interviewed the teachers and observed the teaching class,the application of the teaching material image system and the problems of teachers' teaching methods in teaching material image system in the geography class is discussed.Thirdly,aimed at some problems that part of the teachers' teaching methods of image system is traditional and some of the students'participation is not high,the author through interviewed the teachers and observed the teaching class, proposes the corresponding teaching mode for each kind of teaching material image and establish cases under the guidance of the new curriculum reform.Based on the condition of Hubei Wuchang Experimental High School, this paper takes the image system of geography textbook<compulsory one> and <compulsory two>of the People's Education Press for the research subject.The image of geography textbook are divided into four categories; Sketch maps of geography,Landscape maps of geography,Statistical maps of geography and Maps.The teaching methods and cases which proposed in this paper is based on large number of literature analysis, interviews with teachers, long-term observation of teaching class and combine with the author's own teaching experience.It is hoped that this paper can arouse teachers' attention to the teaching material image system and instead of the traditional "cramming" teaching mode,strength other teaching methods which more conducive to the development of students' comprehensive development like cooperative inquiry mode,teacher-student interaction mode and so on.Students not only need to learn the knowledge of the image,but also need to increase their image skills, promote the development of their attitudes and values and establish their geographical thinking.
