During the world curriculum reform wave, Junior high school education reform has begun since the 1990s; France has turned many new changes on the basis of inheriting the traditional education advantages. Among these measures, the point that focus on the students themselves also is the common trend of the world educational reform, and emphasize"the process and the method"by our basic educational curriculum reform are different in approaches but equally satisfactory results. These changes reflect most vividly on the writing characteristics of the textbooks.Our study on the image system of the geography textbooks has acquired some achievements, but there still exists defectiveness. Below this kind of trend, the thesis chooses the French as the research object for these two countries have many commons in education field. Based on the synthetic and comparative analysis of the image system, we can not only know French geography curriculum reform progress by comparison and analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of geography teaching in China, but also find a reference and partner for comparison to promote reform for our geography curriculum.This thesis starts from the present situation of the French geography education, then analyses overly on the French geography textbooks and the structure chrematistics of the image system from Book 3 to Book 6. During the process of research, this thesis uses the"the Process and the Method"as the clue which is emphasized by our new basic curriculum reform in order to study the image system of French junior high geography textbooks. We can find their unique image expressions to achieve the target of"the Process and the Method"in this set of textbooks by means of the comprehensive analysis on the image cases used.Based on the above analysis, this thesis summarizes our image insufficiencies in the part to achieve the target of"the Process and the Method"and absorb the useful design experiences from the French geography textbooks. In combination with our reform actual situation and the case analysis, the thesis proposes the comments and suggestions for the image design for our geography textbooks, that is:"Lay emphasis on the combination of character and image","Optimize the image combination"and"Intensify the conversion between the characters and image". Hope this thesis can link our geographical education reform with the world reform organically, and continue to emphasize the research on the commonness and individualities for the textbook presences from various countries.
