The fundamental purpose of education is to improve students’mathematical literacy, promoting all-round development of the individuals. This requires the development of mathematical education can better develop students’ mathematical literacy, so that mathematics plays a more important role in students’ lives. Nowadays, the importance of mathematical literacyhasbeen familiar to people. However, how to develop students’ mathematical literacyin mathematics education needs further exploration. Existing research has proventhe educational value of mathematics culture, promotingthe professional development of teachers, and enhancing the math learning of students. Nevertheless, necessary research on the influence that mathematical culture does to students’mathematical literacy is lacked, which is just the purpose of the paper.Mathematics curriculum standards for senior middle school(draft) released recently divides the key attainment of mathematics into six parts. For the researcher’s limitation of energy and capability, the study will selectlogical reasoning, intuitive imagination and mathematical modeling to analyze. According to the conditionsand contents, the study will use case study, selecting three students of grade eight as research objects. After combing the domestic and foreign documents about mathematical culture and mathematical literacy, the researcher builds the core analytical framework of mathematical literacy level of middle school students in support of certain theory, judges the changes of their mathematical literacy levels through the data collected from job analysis, classroom observation and interviews, and decides whether the changes associated with mathematical culture in three rounds of study.Research shows, mathematical culture can promote the improvement of mathematics literacy of middle school students, and there is no obvious difference between the mathematical culture of the eight grade students in the logical reasoning accomplishment, the visual imagination literacy and the mathematical modeling literacy. There are individual differences in the impact of mathematical culture on students’mathematical literacy, among which the promotion effect of the students with learning disabilities and students with learning difficulties is greater than that of the students with the general achievement. The influence of mathematics culture on mathematics literacy can be divided into two aspects: indirect and direct.
