English Reading Strategy teaching has been an important part in high school English teaching.Though,compared with their performance in English listening,speaking or writing,students are good at reading in a way,they can improve their reading ability as well.In practical teaching,the present author has noticed that reading strategies are little known to and are seldom employed consciously by high school students.The present author hypothesizes that their good command of reading strategies will help improve their English reading ability.In her research the present author notices that many scholars have studied reading strategies and startegy instruction,but few of them have focused on methods of training learners to use reading strategies effectively.With such problems in mind,therefore,the present author finds that we need to study how to do English Reading Strategy Training in high school.Guiding by modern systematic thoughts and relevant Reading Strategy Traing theories,this paper will study how to do English Reading Strategy Training and what to train in high school.In this paper,there are meta-cognitive and cognitive strategies in the strategy training system.There are also some steps to do the training,including activities to train the meta-cognitive and cognitive strategies.To demonstrate the outcome of th English Reading Strategy Training methods,this study will do an experiment in Che Cheng middle school in Shiyan.The experiment will choose two classes of equal ability,consisting of 116 students in total.The author of this paper will be the english teacher of the two class,setting one class to be the Experimental group and the other class to be the Control group.Do four months Reading Strategy Training in the Experimental class and regular reading teaching in Control class.There are two tests and questionares before and after the experiment.The result shows:the Reading Strategy Training methods indeed help the students to improve their reading ability and promote them to use the strategies while reading.
