Problems In China's Current Self-taught Exam

Higher education self-taught exam(here after this text will be abbreviated as STE)is a higher education form with strong Chinese characteristics,which is a organic combination of social assistance,personal self-taught and national examination.STE is an important part of higher education in our country.In this article,the author applied literature researching method and so on to explain the basic concept,analyze the status quo and huge function of STE.The impacts of STE are as follows: promote the diversification of higher education in China;become the subject of the higher-education popularization;cultivate a large number of practical talents;enrich the practical experience of teaching reformation in our country.This paper introduces the process,current situation and special features of STE in Shanxi province.Meanwhile,there are still some problems as follow: the trend of change from the students' structure is not satisfactory,student institutions gradually fail,lack of innovation in recruit institutions,and so on.The reasons for the problems are multifaceted,from the students,the student institutions and the management department.The main reasons are: the deformity of the candidates' structure;lack of reformation,supervision and effective convergence of STE' organization and management;student institutions too much focus on profit;the structure of management staff is unreasonable.To deal with these problems,the article proposes some solutions: adjust professional plan and curriculum structure,pay attention to non-academic education function;strengthen the organization and management work;strengthen the management of educational institutions;improve the quality of teaching materials;construct the Evaluation Index of STE educational quality;reform the way of academic evaluation,in order to promote STE's healthy development.
