English homework is a supplement and extension to English classroom. It is a bridge between English class and outside class. It is an important way for students to consolidate their knowledge, improve their skills, cultivate their emotional attitude and cultural awareness, and promote their autonomous learning. With the development of vocational education and the advance of new curriculum reform, more and more experts, scholars and front-line teachers became to pay attention to English teaching practice and made fruitful achievements in English teaching. But they have relatively few studies on English homework.In view of this, this study aims to investigate the current situation of English homework in a secondary vocational school and find the problems. Then, by learning and applying some advanced educational theories, teaching ideas and the New Curriculum Standard, the author puts forward some suggestions and optimizing strategies in order to provide references to English teachers' design and correction of homework in secondary vocational school.For the current situation of English homework in secondary vocational school, the author uses the questionnaire survey, interview survey, case study and other research methods. The survey mainly focuses on five aspects: the teachers and students on the understanding of the secondary vocational school English homework, the amount of homework, the content and form of homework, the feedback and evaluation of homework, the management of homework. Through the investigation the author found that many teachers assign English homework without considering the concept of new curriculum standard and they are deeply influenced by “exam-oriented” education; The amount of vocational English homework is not reasonable and brings heavy burden to the teachers and students; vocational English homework content is not rich, the form is monotonous, structure is not reasonable; Vocational English homework evaluation subject is single, evaluation form is not flexible, evaluation content is not rich; There is no unified standard for the management or perfect assistant system of English homework in the secondary vocational school.According to the problems found in the investigation, this paper puts forward the improvement strategies of the secondary vocational school English homework in the light of the new “English curriculum standards” and the theory of multiple intelligences. With the concept of the new curriculum standard as a guide, optimize the concept of teachers' homework assignment; Control the amount of English homework properly in secondaryvocationalschooltoreducetheburdenonteachersandstudents;enrichthecontentsandformsofenglishhomeworkinsecondaryvocationalschool;makeevaluationsubject,evaluationformandevaluationcontentdiversifiedinsecondaryvocationalschools;improvethemanagementpolicyofenglishhomeworkandestablishtheassistantsystemofenglishhomeworkinsecondaryvocationalschool.
