With the reformation of curriculum,English Teaching in senior high school is facing new challenges and opportunities for development.As the main executor of English education,the performances of senior high school English teachers are directly decisive to English teaching.Good professional identity can guarantee high-quality teaching and learning by promoting English teachers in senior high schools to perfect and develop themselves constantly.However,most researches at home have taken college teachers and teacher-oriented students as targets,there is little attempt to analyze senior high school English teachers' professional identity,less to analyze county senior high school English teachers' professional identity.County senior high school English teachers' professional identity is the acceptance and cognition degree of their profession,regard teachers as meaningful profession,and all aspects of teacher profession(professional value,professional sense of belonging,professional behavior tendency and role value)can be positively evaluate by county senior high school English teachers.Based on a comprehensive analysis of previous studies,the present study employed an adapted questionnaire to investigate county senior high school English teachers' professional identity adopted from 38 English teachers from three county senior high schools in Yunnan Province,and 4 of them were interviewed.The present study aimed to explore current situation,differences and influencing factors of English teachers' professional identity in county senior high schools.The major findings were shown as follows:Firstly,county senior high school English teachers' professional identity is at a high level,professional sense of belonging is the weakest one;secondly,for professional sense of belonging,there are significant differences between differentgender and different education background,male teachers' professional sense of belonging is higher than female teachers',and professional sense of belonging of teachers with low academic qualifications are higher than those with higher education background;thirdly,all the four dimensions of professional identity are negatively correlated with county senior high school English teachers' education background.According to the research results and reflection of current situation,this study made a discussion on influencing factors of county senior high school English teachers' professional identity from four aspects: professional attitude,social factors,job satisfied degree and human relation.In the end,this study gives some suggestion for improving and maintaining county senior high school English teachers' professional identity from aspects of society,schools and teachers themselves.
