The problem of depression in rural elderly has become a practical problem that needs to be paid attention to and solved urgently under the double restriction of economic development imbalance and rural empty nest family and left-behind elderly people. In rural areas, the establishment of the social security system and the old-age security system is not yet perfect,so to solve the problem of depression in the rural elderly, need to use the traditional Chinese family system. In the small family system, intergenerational support is a kind of mutual help between the progeny and the offspring. This kind of help can not be neglected in the depression of the rural elderly. Therefore, the influence of intergenerational support on the depression of the rural elderly has Certain special significance. In this study, the data of China's health and pension follow-up survey in 2011 were selected, and the economic support, emotional support and life care support among parents and offspring were used as independent variables. The depression of the elderly was the dependent variable, age, sex, education Such as degree of control variables,Logistic regression and other statistical analysis methods to explore the intergenerational support for the elderly in rural depression,to verify the "main effect model" and "social exchange" theory of applicability. From the results of data analysis, children care for the elderly, can alleviate the depression of rural elderly. The results of the above studies show that elderly people take care of their daily lives and can significantly affect depression in the elderly. While the "main effect model" and "social exchange" theory are partially verified.
