Carrying on Tri-dimensional Goals promotes the development of students, which is also the requirement of Curriculum Teaching.English textbook analysis is in a dilemma where linguistic researchers hold the belief that English textbook analysis belongs to the practice of teaching, and the value to analyze textbooks is limited. While teachers in Junior Middle Schools are doubt whether they have the ability to do researches and put them in a high position where they don't dare to touch at all. Thus there exists valuable room to study further. The research chose three versions of English textbooks published by People's Education Press,Shanghai Education Press and Popular Science Press as objectives.Jinyuan School adopts the textbooks from Shanghai Education Press. The attached school of Hainan Normal University uses the textbooks from Popular Science Press and People's Education Press as objectives. The English textbooks from People's Education Press are adopted by the First Junior High School of Sili. The author interviewed fifteen English teachers from three different schools.English teachers are well-experienced and have already taught English for at least five years and they need to study the other two textbooks one month ahead. The interview pays attention to the similarities and differences between three kinds of English textbooks.According to the study,In terms of knowledge and skills,English textbooks in Junior Middle school combine functions, structures, topics with tasks, which show the feature of system and stage as well. The number of key words from different versions is quite the same.Different ways are implemented to present and review words but the revision of key words is not enough.Words and phrases of textbooks from People's Education Press are presented by pictures, while words and phrases from Shanghai Education Press are hidden in dialogues and reading comprehensions. As for words and phrases from Popular Science Press, they are inserted into reading comprehensions.Textbooks from Popular Science Press design specific units to review the words and phrases. However, textbooks from the other two textbooks don't have this unit at all.The revision of phonetics in three versions of textbooks is not enough. And they are practiced in the same way such as listening and imitation.Textbooks from People's Education Press and Shanghai Education Press pay little attention to reviewing the phonetics learned before.Textbooks from Popular Science Press only distinguish the phonetics confused by students during Grade Eight. There are not too many differences in terms of grammars from different kinds of textbooks. As the study goes on,the difficulty of grammars escalates step by step.Grammars from People's Education Press and Popular Science Press are expressed thoroughly, while grammars from Shanghai Education Press more focus on the structure of grammar system. The difficulty of grammars from Shanghai Education Press comes first, and the last one belongs to People's Education Press.English textbooks from three versions all cultivate four skills such as listening, reading, speaking and writing, but the percentage of four skills shown in the textbooks is different.English textbooks attract more attention on input like reading and listening instead of output like speaking or writing.Textbooks from Shanghai Education Press tend to cultivate reading skills, but it is not inclined to cultivate some certain skills in textbooks from People's Education Press and Popular Science Press.Textbooks from three versions are the combination of interest and strategies. They all provide abundant strategies to learn English, but the process and methods to design every activity in every unit are the same.English textbooks in Junior Middle school not only focus on the language points but also aim at cultivating students' comprehensive abilities. The topics of textbooks all meet the demands of three kinds of value: Personal Value and Community Value,Humanistic Value and Scientific Value and Human Value and Natural Value.Three kinds of value are not isolated, which is mixed into the study of units. As a result, here are suggestions for English textbooks in junior middle school.Set relative units to review the key words.Make a list about key words learned before in appendix.Present and practice words in different ways.Design more units and more exercises to distinguish the similar phonetics.Balance four skills such as increasing the percentage of output activities and change the process and methods frequently to make students curious.
