Inquiry teaching originated in the United states is a new teaching mode,which can be traced back to the early twentieth Century.With the reform of the new curriculum standards,assistance from the process of exploration are needed to achieve the three-dimensional teaching goal.Since physics is a subject based on experiment,teachers need to inject the exploration thought to the students' brain during their learning process.Only in this way can the students not only learn physics,but also upgrade their ability and method for solving problems.Carrying out inquiry teaching in physics class of middle school has been recognized and widely advocated.However,every kind of teaching methods will encounter some problems in the implementation process.Obviously,implementing teaching method in schools in the rural areas,compared with schools in the city,is more difficult because of the relatively backward economic conditions and underdeveloped education level.Taking Xundian,a county of Kunming city in Yunnan Province,as an example,this study shows the investigation results of the implementation of inquiry teaching in poor areas and analyzes problems existing in the process of inquiry teaching.After that,some suggestions are given and some references are provided for better implementing inquiry teaching in poverty-stricken areas.By collecting and studying a large number of literature about inquiry teaching,we studied this subject in several aspects as follow:Firstly,this paper expounds the reasons for choosing this topic,the research background,the research methods and the significance of this topic which show the necessity and urgency of carrying out inquiry teaching method for physics curriculum in middle school.Secondly,to provide theoretical support for this study,this paper introduces the basic concepts and theory of teaching and summarizes the current research situation at home and abroad about inquiry teaching.At the same time,the traditional teaching methods is compared with inquiry teaching methods.Thirdly,part of the teachers and students from Jiaozishan experimental middle school,Tangdian middle school,Fengyi middle school and Jijie middle school of Tangdian town in Xundian County answered questionnaires about inquiry teaching.From the survey result,the problems emerging while implementing inquiry teaching method are summarized.Fourthly,according to the analysis and summary of the questionnaire,some countermeasures are put forward to solve the problem.Finally,a summary and outlook of this research topic are proposed.
