Since 1980's,due to the necessity of strengthening the compound national power and developing knowledge economy, many countries have been sparing great efforts to improve their children's innovative capabilities in study and as a result, the Inquiry Teaching method has developed very quickly. Our government has also managed to adapt the new teaching theory to cultivate school children's talent. Several laws have been ratified to enhance the purpose of improving student's spirit of innovation and practical abilities. However, it is use if we cannot put this new way of teaching into practice. So advocating and adapting the Inquiry Learning are main tasks of our school education.At present this new way of learning and teaching is prevailing in some middle schools and primary schools over our country, which has got affirmation from experts of education and educational department at all levels. Meanwhile, this new method are just at the beginning period in high school teaching in our country and because of many objective factors it is even harder to spread the new teaching theory in the West of China.Based on this point, the thesis is an experimental investigation research of inquiry teaching theory of high school. The dissertation widely investigates the Inquiry Teaching activities in several middle schools in JiuQuan by using a few research methods such as literature investigation, observation, paper inquiry and interview. In order to put forward some valuable strategies for advanced development of Inquiry Teaching to constructively direct Inquiry Teaching activities.The thesis consists of four parts as follow.Part one elaborates the backgrounds, current condition, purpose, significance, and methods of the present study.Part two gives a general elaboration about Inquiry Teaching. The author offers the concept, the aim and the main features of this method on the one hand and those of the Inquiry Learning on the other, and then elaborates the connecting between the two.Part three expounds further the explorations investigated Inquiry Teaching activities environmentally in several senior high schools and the relevant analysis based on those.Part four represents the instructional suggestions about Inquiry Teaching in practice.
