Teaching style is the way and method of teaching,that is formed by a long-term teaching practice,that is artistic and personal.The teaching style is the key factor to affect the students' participation in class.This paper has made an in-depth study on the relationship between teaching styles and students' participation in classroom.And this paper constructs a mathematical model of the relationship between them.And the author tries to find out the way to improve the students' participation in class from the teachers' teaching style.This study used two kinds of student evaluation questionnaire.One is "High school biology teacher teaching style questionnaire",and the other is "High school biology classroom participation questionnaire".In this study,the author investigated the teaching styles of five biology teachers and the participation of the students at B class in Tanghu middle school.This article uses statistical analysis method to carry on the research.The results are as follows:1.The scores biology teachers got in the four teaching styles are as follows: “types of caring and sharing”(5.22),“types of rigorous and logical”(5.18),“types of humorous and active”(4.83),“types of innovative and exploration”(4.67).There is a significant difference on the “types of caring and sharing”(Sig=0.00<0.01)and “types of innovative and exploration”(Sig=0.00<0.01).There was a significant difference on the “types of caring and sharing”(Sig=0.00<0.01).And female teachers(5.34)were significantly higher than male teachers(5.03).There are significant differences on teaching styles of different biological teachers(Sig=0.00<0.01).There was a significant positive correlation between the teaching styles of five biology teachers and the biological scores of students(Sig<0.01,Pearson>0.38).2.The present level of senior high school students' biology class participation isn't high.The students' scores in class participation are only concentrated in the passing level.There was a significant difference on emotional participation(Sig=0.00<0.01),and the boys' scores(2.71)were significantly higher than girls' scores(2.62).There were significant differences on behavioral participation,cognitive participation and emotional participation among the students of different biology teachers.There was a significant positive correlation between the students' participation and the biological scores(Sig<0.01,Pearson>0.36).3.There is a significant positive correlation between high school teachers' teaching style and classroom participation(Sig<0.01,Pearson>0.26),and teachers' teaching style can predict the students' classroom participation.The survey results show that the scores of “types of humorous and active” and “types of innovative and exploration” are not high,and the overall level of students' classroom participation are low relatively.Biology teachers' teaching styles and students' classroom participation have a positive correlation with students' biological achievement.Teachers' teaching styles can predict students' classroom participation.We can find that improving teachers' teaching styles can enhance students' class participation,and can also help students improve their grades.
