The competition of comprehensive national strength in the 21 st century is not only a competition of economic power,but also the intelligent with great moral,virtue,aesthetics and physical quality as well.Therefore,college students in the new age should both have the solid theoretical knowledge and strong practical ability,but also the healthy physique.Table tennis is beloved by college students as a kind of sport that associates with entertainment and exercise.In the meanwhile,because of the outstanding performance of Chinese table tennis players in the international competitions,more and more college students want to engage in table tennis activities.However,there are so many problems hindering the promotion of table tennis that the virtual progress had hardly been made until now,and apparently it’s been a big challenge to the development of table tennis in the universities.Hence,the research of the development of table tennis in universities of Shandong plays an important role in promoting quality-oriented education and the reform of university sports.Different research methods have been adopted in the thesis,such as questionnaire survey,document literature,expert interview and mathematical statistics.This research investigated the development of table tennis in the universities of Shandong province,and the results are as follows:1.The sports facilities in most universities of Shandong,including stadiums,sports venues and outdoor fitness equipment area,are scant,except for Shandong University.Due to the college expansion plan,the average sports resource is in serious shortage,and it influenced the teaching of table tennis badly;at the same time,the rating system of sport venues discouraged the students from participating in table tennis.2.28.52 percent of Shandong college students are in favor of table tennis.And there is a diversification trend of the participating motivation in table tennis,most of the students want to build up their body,release the pressure and improve their table tennis skills.3.The table tennis course has been highly popularized,but also stereotyped at the same time.The course emphasized too much on its feature as a required one,ignoring the theoretical and practical teaching.Moreover,some table tennis’ s teaching model in colleges is quite conventional,which means its teaching method is too simple to satisfy the demand of students.4.The age structure of table tennis teachers in university is rational,but their EB(educational background)is kind of limited,and so do the proportion in structure of the title of technical post.As for table tennis,there are many lecturers,but fewer professors in universities.In addition,they can hardly publish the high-class theses and their abilities of doing research and the level of expertise are not paralleled.5.Extracurricular activities are not good enough,and most of the extracurricular activities are spontaneous and aimless.The construction of sports club is inadequate,and some clubs of universities are organized by students,lacking the guidance of the teachers.Some universities have no real clubs,and 63.33 percent of teachers are in favor of setting up clubs.6.Some policy factors block the development of table tennis team in colleges,and the leaders of colleges haven’t put much emphasis on it,which leads to a result that a part of colleges don’t take part in table tennis contest in provincial level any more,this is a big obstacle to the table tennis development of the universities in Shandong. |
