Practice And Reflection On The “surrogate Mother” Group Of Poor Left-behind Children

With the acceleration of China's urbanization,an increasing number of peasant laborers are flooding into big cities,and their children are specially labeled as the left-behind children.The left-behind children are a unique population problem caused by our national situation,and this emerging problem leads to growing public concern.The special family situation of the left-behind children results in their incomplete family education function,imperfect family emotional function,and lack of family protection function,which gives rise to unguaranteed rights and unsatisfied needs of the left-behind children.As a teenager,his/her dependence on family affection should be relatively strong,and is relatively sensitive to the cultivation of rational thinking.The lack of warmth of family and comfort from family affection will bring great harm to the whole life of these children.Parents are children's emotional dependence and spiritual support,however,the absence of the mother in real life leads to many problems in the aspects of emotion,learning,life and mental health.This period is an important stage of the growth of children,the shaping of personality,the forming of habits and the cultivation of abilities.It can hardly be remedied if such a stage is missed.Because of the speciality and similarity of the left-behind children,the author adopt the method of group social work.Through the methodology of literature analysis,investigation and interview etc.,field survey,needs assessment and feasibility analysis have been implemented for the group activities of surrogate mothers of the poor left-behind children.One surrogate mom training activity and five parent-children activities have been developed and implemented.Most of these activities start with parent-children games,and the self-efficacy of the group members are enhanced through the sharing of experience and feelings of the members and the use of social work skills in group activities.It is the most important thing to establish a network of mutual help and support,such that even if the group activities are over,the surrogate relationship between the surrogate mothers and surrogate children is still maintained,and the functions of the groups are continued.Not only do the group activities have practical significance,but also they revitalize the original surrogate mother activities through the introduction of professional social work,which brings more theoretical guidance and practical significance to the original activities.
