Research On The Historical Evolution Of Internal Management In Kuanghua University(1925—1949)

Private Kuanghua University is established during the climax of RegainingEducation Rights Movement,when patriotic students in the University of SaintJohn conflicted with the school authorities because of“the May 30 th Movement”.Itis born with advanced management concept of the University of Saint John,grewup in the Golden Ten Years' Development Period,and ripened in the Anti-JapaneseWar and the War of Liberation.In 1951,during the Rearrangement of Colleges andDepartments,based on the main frame of Kuanghua University,East China NormalUniversity was established and Kuanghua University had quit the stage of history.The private Kuanghua university can be considered as a typical case to study theprivate universities in the Republic of China from the aspects of construction,practice,management and even“revocation”.This research selects the internal management of private Kuanghua Universityas the research object,uses the method of Literature Analysis and HistoricalResearch,gathers,collects and analyzes historical data about private KuanghuaUniversity,so as to explore the historical evolution,operation mechanism,stagecharacteristics of its internal management.Through the case study,this researchanalyzes the internal logic of its effective management,and summarizes thehistorical experience of its internal management.Specifically,the research takesthe key time points of Kuanghua University's internal management development asthe boundary,and divides the history of its internal management into threeimportant stages:The first stage starts from the construction of the school,andends when the Ministry of Education approved its construction.It actively learned advanced management experience from its“parent” Saint John University andimitated its management system.But as the rush construction,some managementinstitutions presented the“empty establishment”phenomenon.The second stageended as the“August 13 th Incident”,in a relatively peaceful time,KuanghuaUniversity complies with the relevant regulations issued by the government,andcontinuously improves its internal management mechanism.Kuanghua Universityset the board of directors as the supreme authority,which was responsible forfinancial and administrative affairs,so under the leadership of the Council meeting,Principal Responsibility System is established,administrative rights of schoolcouncil is strengthened,the teaching role of professor meeting is played,studentsautonomous system is encouraged and improved.The third stage is a specialtransformation period of internal management in Kuanghua University,thebranches of Shanghai and Chengdu Departments were both established.In themanagement of Chengdu branch,as it is in the relative safe situation,itsmanagement system and the work is relatively stable,but due to local forcesjoining the board of directors,the influence of the board of directors on Chengdubranch was increased;the Shanghai Department had reorganized because of thewar,its management mainly served students make-up courses.In the process of internal management,Private Kuanghua University digestedwestern advanced management experience and ideas,adhered to the principle ofbeing independent and making foreign things serve China;adhered to thePeople-oriented Concept,activate the main role of teachers and students;simplified the organization in management authorities,clarified rights andliabilities and realized college democracy.According to the change of socialenvironment and their own development needs,in the face of twists and turnsappeared in the process of management,through constant adjustment andinnovation,Kuanghua University united the ideas,measures and actions,formed asound organizational management system,and provided an institutional guaranteeto improve the quality teaching.Under the unremitting efforts of Kuanghuateachers and students,It was honored as one of the “Four Famous Private Schoolsin Shanghai”.
