The Study On The Transition Of University Alumni Work Model In The Internet Era

In the 1980 s,university alumni associations have sprung up in China,and this is the beginning of normalized alumni work.Early on,social gathering,news propaganda and donation collecting are almost the main mission.The alumni work was at the edge of university governance,and the alumni were lack of cognition.Along with the advancement,universities attach great importance to alumni work,because of the value of financial,material,intellectual resource and social relationship from alumni.At the same time,the rising competitiveness and social status of alma mater provide a strong backup for the alumni.So,alumni groups are as well as devoting more attention to alma mater.Therefore,the alumni work must respond two requirements: the development of university and the progress of alumni.This is actually the problem of resource integration between alma mater and alumni.That is,the alumni work must change the model from scattered to integrate.However,this transition is beset by difficulties,such as incomplete data,weak organization,insufficient interaction,ideological deviation.Nowadays,the internet provides a platform for information management and interaction in alumni work,and its development has brought a new idea.This paper firstly summarizes the history of university alumni work in China and its characteristics.Secondly,this study had a broad-based understanding of foreign experience and domestic exploration in alumni informatizition.Thirdly,taking J University as the example,this study illustrate how the internet technology and new idea be applied to alumni work,through intensive interviews and participatory observation to related activities.Moreover,this study summarizes and shows the direction and path of J University alumni work.Finally,this paper attempts to propose a new model: Internet + Alumni,and try to put forward the strategies of transition to improve the effectiveness of alumni work in the age of internet.
