In recent years,with the rapid development of the information technology,the multimedia-aided teaching method,whose core is computer technology,has been widely used in the education field.However,under the influence of the society and teachers' personnel factors,the multimedia-aided teaching method based on multimodal discourse has not been sufficiently applied in the process of English teaching practice.Multimodality is a combination of various “modalities”,namely various ways for people to exchange information with surroundings by sensory channels.In the discourse analysis field,multimodality refers to discourse communication which combines various symbols,voice(auditory channel)and other kinds of symbolic codes or texts which possess meaning.These means can influence people's analysis and understanding of discourse,and improve their language sensitivity.As for grammar teaching,most of the current grammar teaching methods are still traditional teaching methods.Classroom atmosphere is depressing and students can not learn grammar well.In view of this,an experiment is done in the present study with the purpose of exploring the application and effect of multimodal discourse analysis in junior high school English grammar teaching.The experiment was carried out among 70 students in a junior high school in Luquan,Kunming.The 70 subjects were evenly and randomly divided into two classes,the experimental class and the control class.In the experiment,a questionnaire was first conducted among the students,the purpose of which was to understand if they were interested in the current 3p teaching mode in English grammar teaching.A pre-test and a post-test were given to the subjects to measure the effectiveness of the multimodal discourse analysis mode in English grammarteaching.The study aims at answering the following two questions:(1)Do students feel interested in the current 3P English grammar teaching mode? Is the 3P teaching mode effective in English grammar teaching?(2)Can the mode of multimodal discourse analysis improve students' performance in English grammar learning?Through the six-week teaching experiment,the following findings are made:(1)Most of the students in the experimental school are not interested in the 3P grammar teaching mode.(2)Compared with the 3P teaching mode,the mode of multimodal discourse analysis in grammar teaching is more effective and more feasible.The multimodal discourse analysis teaching mode is not only beneficial to student's understanding of grammar knowledge,but also advantageous in arousing students' interest in learning.
