According to English Curriculum Standards of Compulsory Education(Junior Middle School)published by the Ministry of Education,teachers should cultivate students' ability to do things with English by creating a variety of contexts close to real life and adopting progressive language practice activities,as well as various ways and means that emphasize the process and results.Obviously,English grammar teaching under the guidance of the new curriculum standards puts emphasis on both knowledge and ability,while the current English grammar teaching in junior middle school focuses more on the instruction of language knowledge and pays less attention to the cultivation and improvement of students' ability of using language.For this reason,we need actively attempt to take the effective teaching mode of English grammar teaching in junior middle school.Flipped classroom mode appeared in 2007,which was originally used to help students make up a missed lesson by two chemistry teacher.Then it was gradually applied in the teaching of different subjects and rapidly developed into a novel and efficient teaching mode.In recent years,many scholars in China have studied the flipped classroom teaching mode in different disciplines,but few empirical researches are on the application of flipped classroom mode in English grammar teaching of junior middle school.In view of the situation,this thesis tries to explore the effectiveness of flipped classroom mode in English grammar teaching of junior middle school under the guidance of constructivist learning theory,self-access language learning theory and cooperative learning theory.The research subjects are students from two classes of grade 2 in the No.3 middle school of Duyun.One of the two classes is the controlled class and the other is the experimental class.The author designs a questionnaire and an English grammar test before the experiment.The results of the questionnaire show that the vast majority of students take reciting grammar rules as the main approach of learning English grammar,which makes them dislike learning English grammar.However,they have to attach importance to English grammar learning in order to pass examinations.The test results indicate that they're poor in the application of English grammar,so they lose a lot of points in English grammar test.For these reasons,the author makes the following arrangements in the experimental class: firstly,teacher selects refined and vivid English grammar teaching videos and prepares the corresponding exercises about English grammar.Secondly,teacher requires students to watch videos and complete the corresponding exercises before class,and then,teacher provides timely help for students online.Thirdly,students raise questions and difficulties after finishing exercises in class,and discuss them with teacher to find out solutions.In the controlled class,the author still adopts the previous teaching mode.Through the research,the author draws the conclusion as followings: flipped classroom mode is helpful for junior middle school students to change their learning methods of English grammar,solve their problems in English grammar learning and cultivate their interest in learning English grammar so that many of them can change their attitudes towards English grammar learning.In addition,flipped classroom mode is conductive to improving their ability of using English grammar and their English grammar achievements.
