As a symbol of modern culture and sub culture,pop music has an inseparable relationship with the physical and mental development of high school students.In 2003,high school music curriculum standards formally put forward that the course of music for senior high school students need to learn in different times,different nationalities,different style,and popular music was clearly putted into the high school music curriculum to respect cultural diversity.In this paper,from the interests of high school students on popular music,put forward the popular music teaching in the high school music appreciation class in the multi-cultural background,and Highlighted the culture of pop music,emphasized the life of pop music teaching.This topic puts forward some suggestions on the teaching of popular music from the four aspects of the integration of teaching materials,the selection of teaching strategies,the optimization of the teaching staff and the expansion of teaching methods,which according to the existing teaching materials,learning situation,teaching characteristics and problems in high school pop music teaching through literature analysis,interviews,case studies and other research methods.The aim is to promote the development of high school pop music teaching in our country and to improve the teaching level of pop music,which in order to improve the ability of high school students' appreciation of pop music in China and to cultivate the students' ability of cultural discrimination and communication.It provides reference for the teaching practice of pop music in high school music curriculum.
