Social Work Intervention In Stress Relief Of Family Members Of Cancer Patients

Nowadays,China is in a period of rapid economic development,and its international standing is daily flourishing.But at the same time,the negative effect to people brought by work and life with fast pace has gradually been obvious.At the beginning of 2013,“the annual report of the 2012 China Cancer Registry” which published by the National Cancer registry recorded that the morbidity of situation of cancer is serious in China with its increasing levels of illness and death.Thus it can be seen that patients who suffer from terminal cancer has formed a large group.Therefore,many researchers will primarily choose patients with terminal cancer as their object of study when they start this study.After many years of research and development,there have been a considerable part of the research achievements on cancer patients in this field.However,according to the process of author's practice investigation,we can see that there also exist a large portion of family members around the patients with terminal cancer who take care of them both day and night.Cancer gives family members pressure not less than what cancer gives patients themselves.The author believes that the family members of patients with cancer should also be the object of our study.According to the results of this survey,the average age of the patients' families is 42,which means that they have a larger family system.Because of much tension during the process of long-playing taking care of patients,their health continued to decline.They have gradually felt exhausted over time.Such a serious situation not only brings a negative effect on patients,but also forms a bigger hidden danger to families of patients.The author believes that improving the mental state and health condition of patients' families benefits both patients' care and their family harmony.Meanwhile it will also be the key factor for the construction of the whole society.Therefore,the author of this thesis lucubrates the families of patients who suffer from terminal cancer,he synthesizes different methods to analyze the cause of formation of families' pressure such as questionnaire method and in-depth interviewing method.On the basis of survey,we should understand the needs of family members of patients with terminal cancer and design the group work with high pertinence for patients to relieve their pressure.In the group activities,social workers use professional methods to intensify group members' ability to face difficulties and change life space.Meanwhile,social workers can also teach them some living knowledge and skills to relieve the pressure as possible as they can.At last,the author give the families of patients some countermeasures to relieve the pressure from three aspects: society aspect,social work profession and families' individual level.
