Whether from the perspective of improving students' attitudes and recognition about mathematics,or from the perspective of mathematics curriculum standards and the core literacy of Chinese students' development,it is necessary to carry out the math appreciative activities.This paper explores the design and teaching practice of math appreciative activities in grade nine,hoping to make new breakthroughs in theory and practice.This study employs the mixed-methods approach,specifically including literature,questionnaire and interview.This paper wants to gain a better understanding of the related research both at home and abroad through literature,and know the current situation of teaching for appreciation of maths in junior high school and students' attitudes,knowledge and ideas about mathematics appreciation by questionnaire.The questionnaire is supplemented by interview,and the problems reflected in the questionnaire are further understood in the interview.On the basis of literature research,this paper constructs the research framework of mathematics appreciation in grade nine,which is divided into the following three dimensions: the content,components and levels of such subject.The appreciation of maths is expanded by mathematical content,then chooses the components of mathematics appreciation to be shown according to the characteristics of the mathematical content,and ultimately determines the level to be achieved.Under the direction of the the research framework,this study carries out the questionnaire and interview of mathematics appreciation in grade nine,and then analyses the correlation results.Finally,combining mathematics textbooks with students' psychological characteristics of grade nine,this study designs three math appreciative activity cases according to the characteristics of algebra,geometry and probability statistics,namely,'The solution of quadratic equation with one unknown(the method of completing the square and the formula method)','Statistical traps in life' and 'Explore ?' which put into practice by the author.The following conclusions have ben reached in this study: the current situation of teaching for appreciation of maths in junior high school is worrying;students of grade 9 have a positive attitude towards mathematics appreciation,and have a good understanding of the various components of mathematics appreciation;with regard to the appreciation of algebra,geometry,probability and statistics in junior high school,the embodiment of the various components of mathematics appreciation are emphasized differently;the design of math appreciative activities should be linked with the the research framework closely,and the appreciation points in teaching materials and teaching contents should be fully exploited;teachers' quality of mathematics appreciation and students' attitudes and cognition will directly affect the design and implementation of math appreciative activities.At the end,this paper gives some recommendations.
