Nowadays, much attention has been given to the system of autonomous enrollment insome key universities since it came into effect in2003. Recently, with the constant reformand perfection of this policy and the expansion of its scale, more and more people beginto think about it and study it.. As the four major leagues develop, stability and regularityin it start to appear, making a lot of scholars and experts interested in the research in this area. This essay first analyses the present situation of autonomous enrollment andhow mathematics is tested in this process. Autonomous enrollment is a significant reformin the selection system. With its further implementation, more and more universities become partof it. In2003, the Department of Education selected22universities as pilot units and the numberhas risen to90in2013. During this process, the standards of enrollment vary to meetthe demands of the society. For instance, currently creative talents and talents in specializedfields are preferred. As a subject that provides basis and creativity, the widely used mathematicsis one of the chosen subjects to be tested for many years. This essay, by questionnaires and interviews, presents the attitudes of both teachers andstudents in senior high school towards autonomous enrollment and their knowledge about how itis carried out. The majority of the interviewees think that the present policy and the selectedsubjects are reasonable and should be further improved while a small number of people areconcerned about the problems which may arise in the process. For example, this policymay bring about new unfair problems in education with its utility. After interviewing Zou Ming,a teacher in Qingdao No.2Middle School, I draw such a conclusion: autonomous enrollment isclosely connected with the national college entrance examination and maths competitions.Based on the analysis above, the essay compares the maths problems in the college entranceexamination, competitions and autonomous enrollment. It provides a statistic analysisin the proposition principles, knowledge points, mathematical thinking and the width and depthof same knowledge points in these three big examinations. The study reveals that the collegeentrance examination demands the lowest, the competition demands the highest, and the autonomous enrollment in the middle in all the aspects mentioned above. The result isconsistent with their corresponding functions. The college entrance examination is aimed atselecting talents from all the senior high school students, autonomous enrollment at selectingtalents from excellent students, while the competition is meant to distinguish top students. The education in senior high school must pay attention to both the autonomous enrollmentpolicy and the changes of its examinations. Based on the features and regularity of examinations, maths teaching and curriculum setting in senior high school should obey the following principles.First, pay attention to the production process of mathematical knowledge and include culture in it.Second, attach importance to mathematical thinking and try to improve students’ ability.Third, set up school-based curriculum related to autonomous enrollment step by step. Itis predicted that the constant improvement and further implementation of this policy will surelylead to the reform of teaching methods in senior high school and the developmentof quality-oriented education.
