An Investgation Into Morning Activities For English-learning Of Guangxin School

The new English Curriculum Standards emphasizes that extracurricular activities for English play an important role in learning English.Morning activities for English-learning have been offered by Guangxin School since 2011.To understand the current situation,the author conducts an investigation research on this issue.Based on related theories and referring to existing relevant research,the author designs a questionnaire and makes an investigation involving 111 students from Grade Six to Eight in Guangxin School.The research includes:students’ and teachers’personal information,;students’ conceptions and attitudes towards morning activities for English-learning;the purposes and influences of morning activities for English-learning;the contents and types of morning activities for English-learning;and the organization and evaluation of morning activities for English-leaming.The author collects and processes data,and then analyzes the findings of survey and students’ and teachers’ interviews.Sme conclusions are reached in this study.After participating in the activities,students have more interests in learning English as well as improve their pronunciation and tone.According the results,the confidence of studying English is greatly influenced by gender.In addition,during the activities,boys and girls are keen on different kinds of stories.Furthermore,students at different ages are satisfied with different aspects of the activities.However,the beneficial of morning activities for English-learning is limited.Next,the activities lack various forms.What’s more,teachers don’t spend much time in evaluating students,participation in morning activities for English-learning.Based on these results,the author offers some suggestions for the successful implementation of morning activities for English-learning.
