The learning effect of e-learing and paper-based learning was compared by experimental method, and their impact on cognitive load was also discussed. In study one and study two, this research compare the learning effect of e-learning and paper-based learning, hypertext learning and linear text learning by experimental method respectively, adopt single factor between-subjects design. At the same time, study three discusses the effect of structural-map and self-organization in text learning, using the design of two factor between-subjects;All studies are group test, pen and paper test.In the study, the subjects were randomly divided into groups. Before learning, all subjects were asked to measure the current level of knowledge of learning materials. The cognitive load intensity is obtained by the PAAS cognitive load self-rating scale. The recognition of the achievement is based on the definition of the matching form. The achievement of the comprehension is in the form of an open questionnaire, and scored independently by two graduate students according to the scoring table. The results showed that there was no significant difference in the scores of the three studies, and the cognitive load between the control groups was at the same level. However,in the comprehension of the learning goal level, there were significant differences in the three studies. In study one,the comprehension scores of the paper-based learning group was significantly higher than the comprehension scores of the e-learning group;in study two,the comprehension scores of the hypertext group was significantly higher than the comprehension scores of the linear text group;study three, the comprehension scores of have a structural-map group was significantly higher than the comprehension scores of no structural-map group,at the same time,structural-map and self-organization interaction is significant. The self-organization group with structural-map has the best comprehension scores, and the self-organization group without structural-map has the poor comprehension scores.
