With the increasing demand for medical services and the arrival of the aging problem,the valuable and indispensable role of the nursing profession will become more and more important.However,there is a serious shortage of nurses in China medical system.With the gradual maturity of the five-year junior vocational education in nursing profession,a large number of nursing staff have been trained for the primary medical institutions in China,which can solve this problem in some towns and community health centers.At the same time,the rapid development of medical science requires the five-year junior,vocational nursing students to be with higher professional and technical abilities together with cultural literacy.Mathematics,as a fundamental course of the five-year vocational nursing specialty,is responsible for students' basic cultural accomplishment,cognitive ability and analysis ability.However,the quality of students from five-year junior vocational colleges has declined year by year.Not only students,but also schools and the society lack the focus on mathematics learning of the nursing profession.Serious disengagement of mathematics curriculum and the weak consciousness of reform make the current situation of mathematics teaching much more worrying.This paper is based on the background of five-year junior vocational nursing specialty in Wulanchabu Medical College(from junior high school).The students' origin,attitude,interest,motivation in mathematics learning,and how do they learn in classrooms were investigated and analyzed by questionnaire.Application of mathematics in medicine,the role and influence of mathematics curriculum in nursing specialty,students' attitude of mathematics learning and the dilemmas mathematics teachers are facing were investigated through interviews.Based on the abundant teaching experience of the author in five-year junior vocational colleges and sufficient literature exploring,this paper puts forward a series of corresponding countermeasures in order to construct a relatively practical and effective teaching mechanism in mathematics teaching of vocational nursing specialty.The main countermeasures are as follows:A.Improve the perception of the importance of mathematics in the nursing profession through various means;B.Improve the mathematics textbooks on the basis of the needs of nursing specialty;C.Highlight the application of mathematics by infiltrating appropriate cases with the needs of students' profession;D.Cultivate students' interest in mathematics learning according to the actual ability of students by improving teaching methods and skills.
