For the past decades,China has made conspicuous progress in many fields such as economy, science and technology, and comprehensive strength of China has been enhanced greatly at the same time.As a result,cross-border higher education as an important aspect of education has developed significantly in our country. Now the number of Chinese students studying abroad has shown a considerable upward trend, especially in the higher education stage. The phenomenon of students choose to receive cross-border higher education is becoming increasingly common. Thus,it’s necessary to explore what factors make students decide to study abroad. This study is an empirical research on the influential factors of senior high school students’ willingness to study abroad in the high education stage. The study is conducted on the basis of the push and pull theory which is originally used to explain the population migration, and the statistical respondents of this study are students from seven senior high schools in Suzhou. The study uses the data collected by 568 investigation questionnaires answered by the students. The results obtained in this research are as follows: there are a large number of senior high school students who are willing to study abroad. Moreover, students’ willingness to study abroad in the high education stage is a result of interactions between personal factors and push-pull factors. The studied results may offer reference for high education researchers and policy makers, and may provide advice for the promotion of the quality and attractiveness of Chinese higher education.
