Classical Chinese is the gem of traditional language and culture in China,which embodies the wisdom and soul of the Chinese nation for thousands of years.For junior high school students,they read a larger number of articles written in Classical Chinese than pupils do.However,as for the Classical Chinese teaching in junior high school,there are some significant problems.This study is divided into three chapters,mainly focusing on how to improve the effectiveness of the Classical Chinese teaching in junior high school.Chapter One studies the teaching goals and significance in the Classical Chinese teaching of junior high school.The Classical Chinese teaching can help students to improve their Chinese literacy,cultivate the moral sentiment and inherit the traditional culture.Therefore,the effective teaching of the Classical Chinese is supposed to be imperative.The teaching should be based on the teaching material selection,the standard of Chinese curriculum in compulsory education and the entrance examinations to the senior high school.In Chapter Two,the author expatiates the achievements and deficiencies in Classical Chinese teaching of junior high school.On one side,when setting the teaching goals,teachers don't value the recitation and emotional improvement.They just pay more attention to the quantity of practice but not the content,which is relatively monotonous.On the teaching methods,teachers explain too much and depend on the multi-media a lot.Their evaluation on the students mainly relies on their scores.On the other side,students don't take much interest in Classical Chinese learning and they can't judge themselves accurately.Besides,their study methods are not flexible.Two main reasons lead to these problems: one is the characteristics of the Classical Chinese;the other is the values of teachers and students.In Chapter Three,the author proposes some strategies on how to improve the effectiveness of the Classical Chinese teaching from the aspects of both teachers and students.For teachers,they are supposed to stimulate students' interest,set goals of multi-dimensional learning,arrange the teaching content in a reasonable way,make full use of different kinds of teaching methods and evaluate students in an all-round way.For students,they should enrich their learning methods,enlarge their vision of learning and evaluate themselves more objectively.The author expects the strategies are able to play a guiding role in the Classical Chinese teaching.
