TED Speech Video Used In High School English Teaching

With the development of education reform and innovation,Ordinary Senior School English curriculum standards points out," Broaden students' channels of English learning and application with the use of the modern educational technology—if the conditions permit,teachers should utilize diverse resources such as radio and television,English newspapers,libraries and the Internet reasonably to create self-aid learning conditions for students." Investigate the effectiveness of TED speech video used in high school English teaching.If this teaching method is helpful to improve students' English listening and speaking ability,if it can play a positive role for students' vocabulary memory and whether students can strengthen their cross-cultural awareness and their leadership through this teaching method.Adopt the experiment survey.The experimental subjects are 240 students in grade 1 in one senior high school.There are 120 students as the experimental group who used TED video teaching and 120 as the control group without the TED video teaching.And they had a comparative test for a semester.At the end of the semester,I can derive the data by the questionnaire and statistical performance comparison.And then I use the statistical methods to collect and analyze the experimental data.The average oral performance of the experimental class was 1.2 points higher than that of the control class.The score of listening comprehension was 30 points,and the number of students with more than 28.5 points in the experimental class was 39 people higher than that in the control class.The reading achievement was 40,and the number of students with more than 36 points in the experimental class was 34 people higher than that in the control class.The application of TED in high school English teaching is practicable to improve students' listening and speaking ability,enlarge their vocabulary,improve their reading speed,broaden their cultural horizons,and develop their leadership.This teaching method is worth recommending.
