In recent years,English teaching has come a long way with the reform of middle school English curriculum.However,grammar,as a key component of English,has not developed as rapidly as other teaching methods.The main reason for this is that there has always been a debate about how to teach grammar.For example,in the process of teaching grammar,we should pay attention to grammar knowledge and communication level.Either the explicit teaching method or the implicit teaching method should be adopted.For this phenomenon,some researchers have been exploring a more appropriate approach to grammar teaching.Adair-hauck and Donato put forward the PACE teaching model in 1994,which aims to make students master the grammar knowledge and improve their grammar application ability.Under the guidance of input hypothesis,Schmidt noticing hypothesis and constructivism theory,the research explores the application of PACE model to junior English grammar teaching,trying to discuss the following questions:(1)how is PACE teaching model applied to the junior middle school English grammar teaching?(2)how is the PACE teaching mode applied to the grammar teaching in junior middle school?The main purpose of this thesis is to stimulate students’ interest in learning and improve students’ grammar application ability by combining PACE teaching mode with grammar teaching in junior middle school.The author adopts the method of case teaching and classroom observation to understand the students’ grammar learning.For the PACE mode of teaching design,their are four basic steps,such as presenting meaningful materials,paying attention to language form,building common rules of grammar,and expanding the sexual activity.And this mode may guide the student to complete tasks at various stages.In order to understand how is the teaching effect at the same time,this research used the questionnaire,and observation of students’ performance in expanding activity stage,finds that PACE teaching mode compared with the traditional teaching mode,has a certain advantage.Through the PACE mode,the grammar teaching can not only stimulate students’ interest,but also improve the ability of grammar application,as well as cultivate students’ cooperation and communication ability.Obviously,PACE teaching mode not only weakens the debate between grammar learning and communicative competence,but also combines explicit and implicit teaching.However,it is necessary to use meaningful teaching materials to stimulate students’ interest in the teaching practice.Use rich practice activities to help students understand and apply what they have learned.Besides,the characteristics of students’ personality and learning style should also be considered.Thus,the communicative activities should be adjusted appropriately.
